Mountain Path Acupuncture

Feeling Stuck? Acupuncture can help you move forward physically and emotionally.

What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a natural healing technique that regulates the flow of vital energy (Qi) by stimulating specific points on the body. This process encourages the body’s natural healing abilities and helps restore balance. Imagine the human body as a 3D road map: a complex network of pathways ensures that blood and energy (Qi) reach every part of the body—from the top of the head to the tips of the toes, and from the deepest organs to the surface of the skin. When these pathways become blocked or congested, symptoms such as pain and illness can occur.

Do acupuncture needles hurt? In the hands of a skilled practitioner, the extremely fine, single-use surgical steel needles—about the thickness of a hair or kitten whisker—are rarely felt as they enter the skin. You may notice sensations such as distention, warmth, or pressure as the needle reaches the correct depth, but these are generally mild and brief.

How many treatments will I need? Every person’s treatment journey is unique, and multiple appointments are usually necessary to achieve the best results. The number and frequency of sessions will depend on factors such as the nature and duration of your condition, your overall health and vitality, and how you respond to treatment. Throughout your care, we will engage in ongoing dialogue and continually adjust your treatment plan to ensure it meets your evolving needs as we move forward.

Often we will combine acupuncture with other modalities such as infrared heat lamps, hydrotherapy, cupping, and moxibustion.

You may be given herbs, exercises, stretches, and breathing meditations, and dietary guidelines to incorporate at home which will enhance your progress.

What should I expect after an acupuncture treatment? Initially, when you begin your treatment, you may feel tired or sleepy. These reactions should not be a cause for concern, rather, they usually indicate that your body is responding to the treatment and trying to achieve a proper and healthy balance.

How long will the effects last? The effects of acupuncture can be long-lasting—many people experience improvement for months or even years after completing an initial course of treatment, especially for chronic conditions. However, achieving these results often takes patience and a commitment to regular sessions, as benefits tend to build gradually over time. For some, symptoms may return, but a few additional treatments are usually enough to regain improved health.

To maintain your progress and prevent symptoms from returning, periodic “tune-up” or maintenance sessions are highly recommended. These ongoing treatments help sustain the benefits, support your overall well-being, and keep your body in balance. Ask about a maintenance plan tailored to your individual needs so you can continue to feel your best as time goes on.
